As most of you know, this was my first time scuba diving. I was certified almost four years ago, but have not taken the opportunity to dive in the open water other than my check out dives in Lake Pleasant. I can attest that diving in Cozumel was quite a bit different.
I will admit that I was nervous. Luckily, I had a dive partner that took good care of me. Our dive master was wonderful too. She pretty much took over the care of Lee Davis. She held my hand and helped me relax. I felt slightly claustrophobic and had to focus my attention on the beautiful sights around me rather than the fact that I was swimming under water. Kind of freaky! As it turned out, we dove 89 feet for the first dive. In addition, we swam through pinnacles which are cave like structures. I was too inexperienced to realize what I had just done. The second dive was a shallower dive and was quite enjoyable. I did not have a camera with me as I needed to just concentrate on what I was doing (staying alive), but some of the other divers were well equipped. I will share photos with you once I am able to get copies.
Today, we are off to Cancun for a week with the girls. In Cancun, we will not scuba dive, but we are planning on swimming with the whale sharks. To be continued…
